Monster Trucks Meet… the Ballet?
August 4, 2008 – 11:24 pmOkay, this is one of the strangest things I have run across in ages — Monster Ballet. That is, ballet using heavy machinery and construction equipment. From 9 to 9:30, Aug. 9-12, you can watch this bizarre dance of industrial grace down at the Riverside Park in Yeouido. With choreography by Kim Yong-geol of the Paris Opera Ballet, it certainly sounds like one an event with more than a little potential for fun.
Monster Ballet is occurring as part of the latest Hi Seoul Festival. Which now is held four times a year. Once for each of Korea’s four seasons. Really.
Okay, I am no fan of the Hi Seoul marketing ploy. But seriously, big machines dancing? I’ll check that out.

Man.. that looks great.
I assume it is wiser to come on Monday or Tuesday to avoid big crowds?
I’ve not been to any Hi-Seoul events, so any tips you have would be welcome. Otherwise, I’m just catching the Saemaul and checking it out.

I went on Saturday and really enjoyed myself. It’s best to get there a little early so you can grab yourself a good seat.
