Korean Homesick Blues Seeking Korea Based Acts

By Shawn Despres

Dave Candler has contacted us here at KKG about a new regular podcast he has launched called Korean Homesick Blues.   It aims to showcase original alternative tunes from South Korea and the rest of Asia.  Dave is currently looking for “devastating music” being made by both Koreans and Korea-based expats for the program.  If any acts are interested in submitting songs for possible play on Korean Homesick Blues, please send an e-mail to  davidcandler  at hotmail dot com.

You can check out the Korean Homesick Blues podcasts here.

  1. Thanks so much for the announcement, Shawn and KGG! I’m very excited by the response to your piece and to Korean Homesick Blues generally. I’ve had loads of bands from Seoul submitting their material, as well as great groups from Daejeon and Busan. I want to emphasise I’m not JUST seeking American- and UK-style alt rock, though it is most welcome. All experimental music, and even, perhaps, a modern and original take on intrinsically Korean music, would do it for me, too. Korean bands highly encouraged to email their mp3s to me at davidcandler@hotmail.com.

  2. Korean Homesick Blues is now approaching its 10th episode! I’ve had to move it to http://koreanhomesickblues.podbean.com for more bandwidth. But there you’ll find some really great stuff – bands I’ve played so far include SmackSoft, Genius, Whatever That Means, I&I Djangdan, We Need Surgery, The Bell and The Hammer, Animal Dads, Desert, and, well, the list goes on.

I do want to put other great original alternative bands on the show, so please send me your mp3s and a bit of bio info to davidcandler@hotmail.com
